12/14/04

We wake up and try to move the car into the sun to dry off some of the nighttime condensation. But we get stuck in the deep, loose sand. Oops! Then these menacing looking guys drive up in a small , white pickup truck. They watch us for about 5 minutes trying to get the car unstuck. Eventually the tuw guys, a huge dark skinned guy that looks like he is out of the WWF and a smaller but stout guy, come over and help push us out. We say Gracias! and get quickly on our way. It is our geuss that those guys were there to pick up whatever that boat was suppost to drop off. But we could have active imaginations :) we spent most of the morning and afternoon hiking the heights.
We would drive up into the hills as far as our car would allow. Then we would pull off to the side. we hiked about 5 miles before lunch. Then another 7 after lunch. We settled on a swimming beach for the night. The water is a bluish green and there are large zebra looking stripes on the sea floor. There are actually 3 beaches here. The first is the one you see when you drive up. A nice beach with soft sand. The second is hidden back along the side. You have to do some rock climbing to get down there. The third is the longest, being a few hundred feet across. Along part of the rocky shore and the 3rd beach there are boat shacks with boards leadijng up to the from the water. Most are made from stones, the rest from bricks. The sunseat is awesome, it seems like the views here keep getting better and better.
