We awake in Avigon to... rain. It seems to have followed us to France from Amserdam. We went to the camp’s cafeteria/restraust to make ourselves breakfest out of the rain and upright. We had biscuts and strawberry jam and bread with meat and cheese. Our typical Travel breakfast. This campgroundhas, yes its true! Hot showers so caleb and I plan on taking Full advantage. We are ashamed to admit we havent taken a shower since our last morning in Ireland.
The showers were hot and pretty much a little slice of heaven. A shower can make you feel like a new human being. Still raining after all that. We our out of Room on our digicam so no Photos can be taken from our first day in Avignon, but you can believe us when we say it's is a beautiful city. The Cathloic Pope setup his digs here for about 100 years or so. And what does every poch pope have? A palice! So we walked across the bridge overthe River Rhone and explored Avignon. There is what appears to be a totally intact City wall all the way around the old City. All of the buildings from within the wall appear to be from the same period as the cathedral and the Papal Palice(14th century) Very beautiful. We plan on touring it when we start taking photos. We got provisions- from the market since tomorrow is easter and not everything is going to be open.
