12/2/04

Today was pretty great. The weather was the best day of weather we have had in Europe thus far. It was easily 65 degrees F and very sunny ALL DAY! We never thought we could appreciate the sun so much. We have met some really cool Aussies and Canadians at the hostel at which we are staying. We travelled with them today to the Vatican City-Sistine Chapel-St Peters Cathedral and then to the Bocca della Veritas (Mouth of Truth--big Lion mouth you stick your hand into and if you are a person of truth your hand will be ok, but if you are not a person of truth it is said it will bite off your hand. Caleb and I still have ours:) that has been in a couple of movies. An American guy and his girlfriend were in the Sistine Chapel when we walked in. He proposed to her right there and everyone clapped. It was very sweet. Very sad to not have any photos of the sites, but our new Aussie friend, Shelly, (she is super awesome and may take the photos at our wedding!) took some photos of us at the Colosseum and St Peters and whatnot and will email them to us. So it isnt a total loss photo wise I guess. The sense of history here is impressive. Every corner has some site that fills you with awe. I am glad we didnt miss this. We got our tickets for Venice today and will leave tomorrow morning. By the way, Jeremy, gelatto/gelatti is Italian ice cream that tastes like heaven. Not to be missed (on a daily basis for Ang) while in Italy. Arrivederci until tomorrow. ciao
